I made this painting for a project about Cluster Headache (for info [link]).
I was contacted by Al.ce Cluster Europe [link] to create this piece of art for it to be exposed in their art gallery dedicated to such disease.
The coordinator of the forementioned association, Claudio Geraci, requested some paintings for him about the topic, where as the first painting was the burden, this is the pain.

So beautiful yet so disturbing in it's own special way. I can feel a lot of emotions in just this one painting.
The choice of colors are very fair as well. Black, grey and red are (and always been) the 3 main colors that usually express pain, love or hate.

I also have to mention how i can't really tell if it's a male or a female (no offence plz <3)
You drew its creaming so powerful and strong. + that white tear makes it look even more stronger.
Also, i like how you didn't do anything with the back ground, cause if you did, it would have been too much.

The pain and utter chaos and intensity of the cluster headache is clearly reflected in the one-sided chaos and black agony ripping out of the other side of the head. The struggle to stay coherent in the middle of all this is also displayed. The thick red paint streaking out of the left eye is a harsh reminder of the pain. And the red paint makes the black and white seem harsher and isolates the screaming face from the black void around it.

I also like how initially, at the top, the black fingers are random and flailing, but towards the chin, the lines are stiff and linear. The face just popping out of the black streaks looks like it could be whipped away into the black stream in an instant and is fighting to stay alive.

All that can be interpreted from this painting without ever having known or experienced "The Pain of Cluster Headache". This painting is a moving and masterfully done work.

I have headaches in the same family as cluster for the past 12 years, and this is the best representation of what that kind of chronic pain attack does to a human being. Thank you, for now I have something I can show to people that they can somehow understand what we go through.
And I agree the most with the critique by Rhonalex. As I am in intense pain right now and cannot think I cannot critique this except to say that when I saw both paintings, it broke my heart to see my pain right in front of me and it makes my soul hurt because of how terrible the suffering is and how many of us suffer.

Only 0.1% of the population has Cluster headaches... And I heard the pain is so unbearable that people commit suicide from it. You expressed his pain so amazingly that i can feel a bit of sadness looking at it. This is such amazing work and i agree with keytan, I like how you don't use too much color in your pieces.
