everyone should have a familiar tree by agnes-cecile everyone should have a familiar tree by agnes-cecile

everyone should have a familiar tree that could recognize among a thousand
- trees remain motionless, predictable, safe

just a sketch from my moleskine, some people have a familiar tree, I realized I didn't have it

(I'm coming back to work on more consistent projects! soon new paintings :) )

I really like the colors you used to paint the bark. You wouldn't see these colors in real life, so it brings out the "fantasy" from it all. The way the water color is painted, makes the trunk look stunning. (Yes, I'm saying this about a tree). The little details here and there, add a nice touch as well. Like, the leaves in the bottom right corner, stubble, but helps the picture. I love your paintings and hope to see more of your artwork again soon. Keep up this great talent of yours and sharing your art with us on DA! (:

They say that trees don't have a conscious, but they definitely feel, maybe not as intensely or as often, but they do feel. This piece is portraying the emotions of the tree, your familiarity with the tree is what allows you to notice it, and translate its feelings into a beautiful painting. Wonderful.

Lol I have one of those! It's in my neighbours yard and we used to climb it all the time... right up untill they bought the property and built a friggin' castle for a house there lol...

But it had thick branches going all the way up to the very top and they were perfect stairs -- in a spiral all the way up... The neighbour cleared away all the other trees around it, but left just that one for some reason... Which I'm glad about, because I literally probably would have cried f it was cut down lol... IDK, me and my sisters spent so many summers up in it's branches reading, drawing, pretending we were fairies, making forts, etc... lol

Oh, good ol' childhood, how I miss you :iconallmyloveplz:

I love the depth that occurs once you see the different shapes, I'm a big fan of small illusions in art, and this stands out :-)

I used to have one! When I was younger I'd go to the nature strip where it stayed and just sit in the branches. This piece makes me want to visit it again. ;u;

In regards to the picture: I liked the colours and textures in the bark. It's much more realistic like this than choosing just browns and blacks. :)

Tis looks beautiful! I remember I used to have a tree that had two swings on it, one of them man made. It was really special cause it had an old black power ranger stuck to it. The tree was engulfing it lol and so we called it the power ranger tree :3 sadly my dad cut it down a few years ago :c I really miss it.

Can't wait to see more paintings, my dear!
And I like the idea.. A familiar face, so to speak.. That would be comforting. As well, if it was a house plant it's sort of a reason to get up in the morning. Without you that plant won't get a drop of water.. It's simple and just a tree, but in the hardest of times even a tree is enough.

I love trees and feel guilty I haven't spent much time lately around the trees around the building on the pavement. Just being around trees and plants makes me feel more peaceful, relaxed and inspired pretending to listen to their chants :meow: . Now I feel like sketching trees on location. Arggh if only I can find an ancient olive tree nearby to sketch on location especially at the golden hour :/

I like the idea behind this, but even a tree isn't something stable.. it can get cut or striked by thunder, or broken by strong wind. anyway they are still quite reliable :) I love trees and this painting is beautiful in its simplicity :heart:
