Description

I made this painting for the 1000Drawings project, it's a one night exhibition for charity in Amsterdam, on May the 11th. There will be 1000 drawings for sale for the same low, accessible price (€10).. this is my partecipation to the event. So, I hope that someone among you will find my little watercolor and buy it!

Proceeds will be donated to support FairPen, which helps children in Uganda to run an editorial office with their peers, investigate issues, think critically, and publish handwritten, handdrawn newspapers to each other and to their local communities.

Beautiful form and control of the materials - especially the watercolour - and the redering the shapes through small touches here and there lift the details out of the paper and into the eye perfectly.

The life given to the eyes and lips are in beautiful contrast to the seemingly random watercolour shapes to the right of the face - but that contrast only adds to the form .. the natural organic shapes of the face matching the natural organic shapes of the water paint allowed to settle as it will on the page.

You also frame the face well with the black of the hair .. I learned very early on never to under-estimate the value of black!

Really very good work.
