I have just stumbled upon your paintings and have really been drawn in by your use of color. The translucent quality of the neutral areas keeps the composition from becoming too busy, whereas the intense color in the focal areas draws the eye as effectively as shading would in a black-and-white composition.
My scores: Vision = 5 I think the emotion contained within the painting is tremendous, and your execution really emphasizes this. There is also no "fuzziness" to the composition: you have decisively portrayed your image and that confidence really enhances the piece. Originality = 3 Although I love the concept behind this painting, I think the cropping (eyes and nose at near-three-quarters) feels very familiar to me. Although the styling is adequate compensation, the composition itself is not Earth-shattering to me. Technique = 4 The only thing that bugs me a tiny bit is that my eye is jumping all over the place a little bit (probably my fault). The right eye is so intense and dark and focused that at first I lost the blown-out quality of the left (which I LOVE). As a whole, it feels a tiny bit unbalanced to me. Impact = 4.5 Obviously it had an impact if it got my off my lazy butt to write a review. Really, all of your paintings are quite impressive and I am happy to have accidentally come across them!
Best, Emilija
(Disclaimer: Obviously I don't have a tenth of your talent or technical skill! Take this for what it is--one person's uneducated opinion!)
THIS IS BEAUTIFUL, AND YOU ARE AN AMAZING ARTIST. But the thing is, I went to an art show a couple weeks ago, and there was something there that reminds me remarkably of this. The whole "looking out" theme with the background. I mean, I am totally amateur when it comes to this, and probably shouldn't even be talking. I could not draw something this amazing for my life. (Well, not right now. After all, I amn't even in high school yet!!! But I'm trying!!!) But seriously, this is pretty amazing. You are amazing. Your art is amazing. WHEEEEEE I LIKE SAYING NICE THINGSS
hi! this is amazing! i am a big fan of your art...could i ask what the very thin white pen is...the one you use to create the detailed white lines after you paint? thank you
The longing in the eyes speaks to the need in the artists mind for some sort of salvation, a relief long over due, the portrayal of the human condition is quite evident and deserves much praise. kudos. keep up.
