I the detail and the technique of the birds in her hair. The way you have incorporated the bird into the side of her face. It is almost like seeing two different pictures at the same time.
You have really captured the emotions in her body language and expression on her face. The pain and confusion has been beautifully conveyed though the colours and technique. The preoccupied stance in her eye gives her a day dreaming state.
The colours that you have used give her sorrow and maybe a glint of hope too. I really like the way you put so much detail into the lips and nose. They really make a good feature of the face, as well as the bird.
The water marks on her face makes it seem like she has been crying and she still has them running down her cheeks.
Personally i love this piece of art work and i am mesmerized by it too. Well done!
She appears breathless. As if something has struck the air out of her lungs. Leaving her in a defenseless position what she is hesitate to allow the viewer to see.
The picture does a good job of bringing attention to the face, then drifting to the birds, and down the body. Rendering of the face and hair was done very well. But the hand seems to have been only sketched in. A few details instead of a wash of a hand would leave the work stronger. Giving the audience not only an insight into the subjects mind, but their body language.
A sense of loss can be felt throughout the picture. It may have been a child, or one of her parents. The pink on her shoulder gives the impression it was her father who once held her.
The layered white dove around the eye could have been layered differently. Because of the values around the eye, the wing makes the dove look flat; forcing the illusion of dept to be broken. Perhaps if the birds was flying more towards the viewer it would appear more like a metaphor than a symbol.
The way you pushed the colours around her neck was very well done. When I look at the neck I feel some kind of dreamy atmospheric environment. Maybe she just came out of the shower? Her hair is done is similar way. As the colours rise out of her, it appears they are also drawing out her memories.
The contrast of the white boarder along the sides keeps the picture flowing vertically off the page. Making this piece perfect in a collection or with a simple dark frame proudly displayed on someone's wall.
This is a good picture. Your abilities to combine technical execution and a emotional response is marvelous. I hope I was in some way helpful, and I do not mean any of my words as negative. You have a very strong picture what few have the abilities to produce.
