I find this one a magnificent piece. I noted lately that you've somehow come back to your "roots", meaning with this that I can tell you use lately resources you used before, like the butterflies in this one. I think that's a positive thing. Looking back your own work and feel inspired by it is something great. About the painting itself, you have improved even more with your technique and your style. I like the way the hair is loosely done and the light colours of the watercolour drops, that make contrast with the strongest ones of the face (specially the eyes) and the butterflies. I like the look in her eyes, she's like in her own mind, like she can't see what is right before her, instead see her own world. I quite like that. I find this painting simple yet stunning. It's very strong. However, the only thing I don't like (not that it bothers me), is her collar bone. I think you should've done it smoother, for putting it in a word.
I just wanted to share my interpretation. The butterflies represent the short blossoms of loves long ago, of loves different and distant. The fact that they are resting (intrusively) on the face is the "sacrifice" for the girl, as the face represents the beauty, youth and innocence of the girl. The girl's eyes are seemingly blank, but I seem to sense hope for the next love to look past these butterflies.
I love you every painting, very love, I am a student of Chinese is very want to make friends with you, to learn from you, would you like? My English is not good, please, if you like it would be my pleasure, you can contact my email firstname.lastname@example.org
From how I see your painting, it seems as if the beautiful butterflies are sucking the life out of the girl. Like the title, love and sacrifice, she must be sacrificing herself for the splendour of love and something beautiful. Is this your purpose?? This painting is really lovely, good job!
Just had a quick pirates of the carribean moment with the painted butterfly wings on her cheeks. randomness is my wheelhouse but thsi is stunning. I love surreal watercolors like this. You do so much with so little and those eyes are so haunting. i suck at watercolor... the fact your watercolors doesn't congeal in a soupy mess makes you an instant genuis. XP
