I started this piece some months ago, I showed it in my last exhibition still unfinished without title, only in the last two weeks I worked on it again, I was waiting to be sure to add the geometrical stuff, is something new for me, but helps to balance the abstract forms with these edgy, sharp and glassy forms. They add a logic border to something that looks random, I would these lines were like construction lines of the subject. The subject has to be inside its costruction. But I'll explain better this thought in the next paintings, I'm just trying here.
the first, old and true title is another better one, "necessary ritual" is the subtitle; words were of a dear friend.

What I like the most in Silvia's work is how she does the eyes. They are always the perfect shade, the perfect color and so full of life. The only thing that is technically incorrect is that her hand on the shoulder should have it's thumb pointed outwards. When I saw this artwork, I realized there was something wrong with the hand. I put my my own hand on my shoulder the way it is in the painting and figured what's wrong. This is only some small technical detail which can be taken care of in future paintings. Other than that, gorgeous work like always.
Even better is how the paint drips are realistic; they curve around her cheeks, dodge the lips, following the path of least resistance, and the blue paint drips curve around the arm before falling off.
She is going through a seemingly necessary ritual and her arms are folded protectively over herself, even though if you tried that pose, it's kind of awkward, and she looks forward bravely even though it would be logical to protect her neck, which is already injured by one of the flower shurikens, not too far from the internal jugular. The woman has a blank, detached gaze as if she knows it will be over eventually.
Meanwhile, the pink explosive splats are hinting that the woman is not dead to the "ritual", but that it maybe gives her some vibrant or creative ideas.
Nicely contrasting blues and pinks will attract the eye whilst the depth of the woman's gaze and the details of the painting will hold it. A brilliant painting by agnes-cecile!
