The colors are simply amazing! I love the way you painted the three girls. It looks like the waves are really flowing through them and the girl in the middle has her eyes opened, it adds something emotional to this piece. Besides all the perfection, I have a some criticism. The girl on the left has just got a little bit of color, but I think she lacks something. It's okay that you wanted to use less colors on her, but I think she needs more shadings on the areas that you colored. Because the other two girls have so much depth! I think she looks a little flat compared to them. I hope I wasn't too harsh, because I really love your work and I couldn't have done it better! Overall, I think this is a great piece of art.
A wave. A thrust of water from the ocean, peering it's salty eyes to the sand.
A wave is a rush a water pouring onto the sand. Reaching its white fingers to grip the shore.
A wave will appear only in a moment.
A wave will go back to the water, to conceal itself back into the ocean.
But it won't stop going to and fro. _________________________________________________________
Ms. Agnes Cecile,
This is such a lovely painting, and this was full of meaning to me. So I had to write a critique because I love this so much! Anyway here is my critique:
Vision: When looking at your painting I noticed each girl was the same person. I wondered to myself, why would she paint the same girl three times? I looked at the colors and noticed waves. Waves that flowed from each girl, starting from where the wave is white (left) to when it is sunken back into the ocean. (right) Her eyes open only once, being the moment we see the true nature of the wave. However, I wish the girl in the center was looking a bit closer to the audience to help give that flowing effect.
Originality: This is the first painting, I've seen where we see a sketch with limited paint, sketch with paint, then pure paint (reiterates the idea of a wave) and a love that we got to see all three of your styles rolled into one. But now the question is, where will your style develop next?
Technique: The fact that you could, what appears to be random swipes of paint, gives the illusion of waves. That blew me away, I think that is amazing.
Impact: After looking at this, I have questioned that are we all forms of waves. We start off like the girl on the left, hidden and colorless. But with the second girl, we become open and full of color, living life by viewing the world. Then we end like the last girl, full of wonder and color but we are given a chance to reflect on the colors we have now added to our palette called life.
Thank you for sharing this piece of art with us. Thank you.
